If your New Year’s resolution was to finally start eating healthier in 2020, well, you might want to click the “back” button on your browser and forget you ever saw this page. Yes, Cinnabon, the (in)famous U.S. purveyor of
blood sugar-spiking gut bombs cinnamon-laced baked goods is coming to Hong Kong, and its frosting-coated creations are coming for your waistline.
The Atlanta-based brand has been wreaking havoc on America’s teeth since 1985, and has grown to sling cinnamon buns from some 1,200 franchised locations in over 40 countries.
The chain teased the opening of a Hong Kong location by setting up a Facebook page in April, and just last week confirmed that it will be open for business at Olympian City in Kowloon in February of 2020, perfect for those looking for a Valentine’s treat to share with that special someone (or those trying to bury their crushing loneliness in an avalanche of dough and icing).
The chain’s classic cinnamon buns, chocobons, and caramel pecanbons have earned enormous cultural cachet, and their wafting scent has long been considered a sort of siren song for weak-willed passers-by, who are lured to their sticky, calorie-laden doom on the rocky shoals of the franchise’s typically mall- and airport-based outlets.
All that said, though, you gotta do what you gotta do, and sometimes what you gotta do is eat a cinnamon bun the size of a bean-bag chair.
Come February, you’ll be able to do just that.
