Nine Hong Kong restaurants join Asia’s 50 best restaurants

Hong Kong (and Asia in general for that matter) is a foodie’s paradise, so it comes as no surprise that nine Hong Kong venues have made it to the list of Asia’s Best 50 Restaurants.

The highest ranked among them, according to the list put out this week, was Amber, a two Michelin Star restaurant at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Central, which came in at number seven.

Close behind was the nearby Italian restaurant 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo —  located at the Landmark Alexandra on Chater Road — which finished 13th.

Both, however, slipped a little in the rankings, by four and nine places respectively from last year.

The list’s top accolade went to Gaggan in Bangkok, which took home the prestigious award from 2015-2018, according to our sister site Coconuts Bangkok.

Also featured from Hong Kong was Japanese and French fusion restaurant Ta Vie and Cantonese eatery, the Chairman, which rose several rankings to 16th and 22nd, respectively.

Cantonese restaurant Lung King Heen, meanwhile, slipped a few places to land at 24th.

Three new entries from the city included three French restaurants; Neighborhood (32), Belon (40) and Caprice (46).

Japanese restaurant Ronin improved its ranking by four spots from last year and came in at 41.
