What’s better than making memories with loved ones over fantastic food and a great bottle of wine? Probably nothing. How about if that bottle of wine was on the house? Absolutely nothing!

Mastercard is all set to make your end-of-year dining dreams come true. All you have to do is spend a minimum of HKD800 at any of the participating restaurants in Hong Kong, pay with your Mastercard and enjoy your bottle of complimentary wine.

We’re celebrating Mastercard Wine Privileges with our pick of stylish Hong Kong dining spots that are perfect for a date, a big night out or pretty much any excuse you might have to get together for some great wine and dine. Bon appétit!

Butcher & Baker Café

This Kennedy town hotspot is all about high quality meat, seafood and fresh-from-the-oven bread. It’s a classic combination that lends itself to so many tasty dishes. Start with some appetizers like the Soft Shell Crab Sliders or Beef Brisket Croquettes served with a rich tomato dipping sauce.

Mains here are great when shared (as will be the bottle of free wine), so after quelling your hanger with the first course, dive right into the Italian Meatballs on Sweet Potato Mash, Chicken Chorizo Burger, succulent New Zealand Smoked Beef Ribs and the herb-marinated Rack of Lamb. Watch out for the meat sweats, guys.

Butcher & Baker Café’s rustic setting perfectly compliments the menu; cozy and inviting with a dash of style and attitude. Their long table makes for a great dinner party atmosphere, but you can also cozy up in a corner if you’re with your bae.

EAT it

EAT it, Hong Kong’s “Italy Eatery” in Causeway Bay is part mercato (marketplace), part trattoria (tavern) and fully delicious.

Although casual, it’s a great dinner spot and a perfect destination if you’re in the mood for pasta, pizza, antipasti, rotisserie and some quality Italian wine to wash it all down.

Try the tasty breaded Chicken Milanese, a juicy cut of thigh rolled in spices and homemade breadcrumbs served with crisp greens and fries. Or fulfill your veggie quota for the day and order the vegetarian calzone with zucchini and eggplant, topped with homemade tomato sauce.

You’ll discover a vibrant array of Italian artisanal brands and assortment of cooking stations here, so you can easily browse and choose what you love – i.e everything – all the while, sipping your complimentary vino. Ciao! You’re in Hong Kong no more.

Moofish

Another stylish spot from Castelo Concepts (from Waygu Lounge fame – damn, these people are busy!) is Moofish, a Hong Kong eater that focuses on juicy steaks and fresh seafood.

Dig into the Tsing Tao Beer Battered Fish & Chips, which comes with mashed green peas and fat chips seasoned with sea salt and cracked pepper. Bring along some friends to sample the Barbecued Ginger Ale Glazed Pork Ribs, a sticky sweet dish of USA roasted pork ribs, zesty slaw and fat cut chips.

Or sip your (free!) wine and indulge in The Works Steak Sandwich. The tender fillet of beef is chargrilled with caramelized onions, melted cheese, tomato, bacon and lettuce.

Round out your menu with a crisp fresh side like the Seared Tuna Salad, which comes with cracked pepper coated tuna, green leaves, cucumber, roasted peppers and a soy and ginger dressing. We know, the choices are endless, so choose wisely! (Or choose all, we don’t mind.)

Frites Belgium on Tap

You know why we love Belgian food? Because they take their fries seriously. And at Frites Belgium on Tap, you’ll be among fellow fry-lovers, happily dipping your ‘taters into delicious house-made sauces.

Frites Belgium on Tap serves up traditional European fare in a friendly atmosphere. Come here with a big group of friends to make the most of the epic portions and heaped servings of fries. Everything is designed to eat family style, so the more the merrier! Take the signature bucket of mussels for instance. This shellfish is for sharing. Plus, the homemade fries are perfect for sopping up the saucy deliciousness. Mmmmm, indeed.

This bistro-meets-beer hall has a stylish 1920s vibe thanks to the high ceilings, rustic tables and stained glass windows. Start the night off with your free bottle of wine, and then sample a couple of the 80 varieties of Belgian beers available.

High Street Bar & Grill

High Street Grill is a cool new addition to the Sai Ying Pun dining scene, with its light, airy ambiance and emphasis on classic, home-cooked fare. It’s open for breakfast (from 7am daily) and there’s a new lunch set menu every week. But what we’re really excited about is dinner.

Just the description of High Street Grill’s Wagyu Burger gets our taste buds oozing: a flame-grilled 100 percent Wagyu beef patty with fresh lettuce, juicy tomato and red onion and toppings of your choice, including, Swiss, cheddar or blue cheese, mushrooms, beetroot, egg, bacon, guacamole, pickles, jalapeños and even foie gras (if you’re packing on weight to climb Everest, or something).

Another favorite is the American Hot Dog. This puppy, close to a foot long, is wrapped in a soft roll with grilled onions and sharp Monterey jack cheese. Add a dollop of mayo, mustard, ketchup or relish – we’ll drink (for free) to that!

Oolaa

Oolaa kind of sounds like the moaning sound we would make after a really delicious, satisfying meal. You know, the kind that requires going up a size in stretchy pants. Which is appropriate, because if you’re looking to fill your belly with an amazing dinner then this is the place.

Oolaa dishes out delicious worldly cuisine that’s full of flavor but not fussy or pretentious. Take a seat at the intimate SoHo resto and order up the Sage-Roasted Pork Loin or the Pan-Fried Halibut, which comes drizzled with lemon butter and served on a bed of angel hair Pomodoro pasta. Pass the Sauvignon Blanc, thank you very much!

If red wine is more your thing, go for the Flame-Grilled Hanger Steak, which is served with baby potatoes, rocket and parmesan salad and zesty salsa verde.

Oolaa even gives us a reason to love Mondays. They’ve designated the week’s most hated day Roast Night, complete with succulent roasts of the day served buffet style with starters and all the trimmings. You’ll never feel guilty for missing Sunday lunch again.

Craving big plates of comfort food like hearty pastas and chicken fajitas? Hell, when are we not craving that? If you’re like us and you enjoy indulging in delicious food with friends every chance you get, then Jaspa’s has got you covered.

With a cuisine that ranges from Tex-Mex classics to flame-grilled fresh seafood, and locations in Soho, Happy Valley, Kennedy Town, Sai Ying Pun, Discovery Bay and Sai Kung, you can’t go wrong.

Jaspa’s is all about modern, hearty food in an approachable, laid-back atmosphere. Try the barbecue specialties like baby back ribs or the well-loved chicken fajitas. For something protein heavy, go for the salmon linguine or a juicy steak cooked exactly to your liking.

The dishes are both exciting and familiar, a combo we really love. Almost as much as the combo of free wine and amazing food!
