In pictures: The fire that gutted Yangon’s Mingalar Market

 

Yangon’s Mingalar Zay, one of the largest markets in the city, was gutted by a fire that started Saturday morning at around 1:30am.

The market straddles Mingalar Taung Nyunt and Tamwe townships.

Authorities have yet to determine a cause for the blaze, which tore through most of the floors before firefighters were able to get it under control after 5am.

No deaths or injuries were reported, but the property damage was immense.
