A South Korean man reportedly crashed his brand-new Mercedes-Benz into the stairs of Thong Lor BTS station at 6.30am on Sunday morning.
Street vendor Puang Puangpila said she saw a Mercedes-Benz with a red licence plate parked on the sidewalk about 15 meters from the entrance to the BTS station with its engine and lights on, and left door open.
Kum Ki Lee, reportedly in his 30s, was asleep in the driver’s seat, reported the Bangkok Post.
Shortly after Puangpila spotted Lee, the car moved forward and forcefully rammed into the stairs. Bystanders dragged Lee, who was still asleep, out of the car. He sustained a neck injury and was taken to hospital.
Lee faces a charge of reckless driving causing property damage and police are waiting for the results of an alcohol test.
