You are not prepared for Ian B. Jamieson’s balls-crazy stunt, unless you are

He’s roundhouse kicked our hearts, so we hope Ian B. Jamieson doesn’t totally kick our asses for this montage of tribute. Photos: Ian B. Jamieson and Wikimedia Commons.

Yet another story ignored by the lamestream media, apart from our friends at Phuket News: None other than Ian B. Jamieson is coming to Bangkok to do a crazy ass stunt.

You read that right, none other than the 61-year-old Prince of Peril, the man who shames Chuck Nor-risk and makes Chadchart Sitt-his-pants will journey from Phuket to Bangkok to do something ridiculously insane this summer.

Phuket News slings the deets from their envious exclusive:

With the recent lifting of the emergency decree and closing of key protest sites in the Thai capital, stuntman Ian Jamieson has opted to perform his next stunt in Bangkok instead of Phuket.

“I am really disappointed I could not perform the stunt in Phuket, as [it is] my home,” the 61-year-old Australian told The Phuket News in an exclusive interview this morning.

The stunt, now scheduled to take place in late June at the 49,000-seat Rajamangala National Stadium, will still see Ian – initially on a motorbike before being catapulted free – attempt to clear either a Bell AH-1 Cobra or a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicoptor, with its rotors spinning all the while.

The helicopter would be provided by the Royal Thai Army.

“I’m not in it to die… It’s purely business for me. I’ve done similar stunts 31 times before and am fully prepared for this one,” said Ian, who will also be turning 62 this June.

“But I’ve not done something like this for 26 years,” he added, with a laugh.

Sponsorship coordinator, Paul Poole, explained the reason for the change, “It makes more commercial sense for Ian to perform his helicopter stunt in the capital… Bangkok was always our [Paule Poole Southeast Asia Co Ltd] preferred location for the stunt for obvious reasons – more spectators, more media platforms and more relevance to sponsors.”

He continued, “Although we received huge support and enthusiasm from Phuket Province and the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation holding the stunt on Phuket at Surakul Stadium, the only suitable venue, doing the stunt here would have proved logistically challenging.”
