A woman fainted on the platform at Mo Chit BTS station, causing a service interruption this morning as her body fell forward into the side of the train as it came to a stop.

At 8:30am, the passenger, who was not identified, received only minor injuries from the fall. She was administered first-aid by BTS staff before being sent to the hospital, the skytrain operator said in a statement on their Line account today.

The passenger was declared to be safe and in stable condition.

BTS noted that there are first aid rooms at all stations (Ed: also toilets!), and sick passengers are welcome to rest there until they feel well enough to travel.

The accident has once again sparked a public cry for safety partitions at every station. Currently, only nine of 35 stations seal passengers off from the track area.

Just last month, a woman fainted and fell onto the tracks at Ratchathewi station. The train stopped only just in time.

At least five people have fallen onto the BTS tracks in the past four years. Luckily, all survived.

A June 2017 incident on the Airport Rail Link, one of Bangkok’s three train systems, had a far less happy ending. In that tragic incident, a pregnant woman fainted and fell onto the tracks in front of an oncoming train, which was unable to stop in time.
