A wild and unseasonal thunderstorm boomed it’s way through Bangkok early today — in case you didn’t notice — as thunder crashed before daybreak, making commuting was much wetter than it should be at this time of year.

The unexpected storm caused flooding, traffic jams, and an unpleasant rush hour as commuters struggled to get to work and army officers spread through the streets directing traffic, reported Bangkok Post.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) confirmed that all of Bangkok got hit with the storm, which left the city under several inches of rain in the worst hit areas such as the riverside, and the suburbs of Minburi and Nong Chok.

As they often do in a big storm, Sukhumvit Road, parts of Lat Prao and Ramkhamhaeng were also underwater, making commuting by car a nightmare.

According to The Meteorological Department, rain may continue around the country through tomorrow.
