The gloomy skies is not clearing up anytime soon. In fact, it’s expected to rain every day in Bangkok for the rest of the week, according to officials.

Every April, all we know here in Bangkok knew is extremely hot weather and sweaty upper lips. So what’s up with these unusual rainy days in the middle of the dry season? The Ministry of Science’s Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute said today that Thailand is merely suffering from summer storms, confirming that no, we’re not entering the rainy season early.

The institute said that a high pressure system from China and the westerly trough from Myanmar, which are moving through northern Thailand, are to blame for thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in the North, Northeast, and Central.

According to the Meteorological Department, Bangkok can expect heavy rains to continue until Wednesday. Then we should get a a bit less rain from Thursday onwards.

Still, it’s going to be a gray week, so have your umbrella at the ready.
