Trang organizes underwater wedding ceremonies

Trang is organizing more of the underwater wedding ceremonies they are becoming famous for this year. Twenty couples have already booked ceremonies beneath the sea at Kadan Island.

The 21st Underwater Wedding Ceremonies will happen from Feb. 13-15. Half of the couples that have booked this year are from abroad.

Prior to the weddings, the couples will engage in ceremonial activities including planting the Mahesak and Saksayamin royal trees, baking Trang cakes, making Chinese steamed dumplings, weaving, harvesting rice and even taking part in a folk play, reported Thai News Bureau.

Couples will eat delicacies including local sticky rice, which is a traditional rite in Trang on the night before the wedding.

The underwater wedding registration and sand pouring ceremony will be organized beneath the sea at a depth of about 10 meters at Kradan Island, in Kantang district.

On Feb. 15, the couples will participate in planting seagrass and a trip to a mangrove forest before returning back home.
