Prasong Ruangsirikulchai, Executive Director of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, was fined and sentenced to 15 days in jail for reckless driving after a video of him zigzagging on a Bangkok road went viral.

The 49-year-old executive has landed himself in hot water after he was filmed driving like a madman and blocking other motorists’ way near Prawet intersection yesterday. Prasong reported to the police and told them that he was angry because because the cars in front of him “drove too slow” so he wanted to “teach them a lesson.”

Phra Khanong Court today sentenced him to a 15-day jail term and a fine of THB5,000. His driver’s license has been suspended for 6 months.

His family submitted THB30,000 in bail money, and he plans to appeal the case, Komchadluek reported.

A Facebook status allegedly posted by Prasong was widely shared on social media last night. In it, he said he “meant well” with his actions.

“I want to be a trainer for people to drive better. That’s illegal? Hmmm I meant well, and now I’m doomed,” Prasong wrote.

Prasong is also a president of the the Telecommunications Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, an organization consisting of government agencies and businesses in the telecommunications industry.
