Earlier today, three men were arrested and confessed to the murder of a Scottish businessman and his Thai wife in the Cho Hae district of northern Phrae province.

The bodies of Alan Hogg, a 64-year-old Edinburgh native, and his wife, 61-year-old Nod Suddaen, were found around 11.30am this morning. They had both been declared missing since last Thursday.

After starting their search yesterday, police dogs today discovered the corpses buried about two meters underground, behind a duck pond by the couple’s mansion, reported Morning News.

The discovery followed hours of interrogation in which the three detained suspects revealed the location of the bodies and confessed to murdering the couple for a reward of THB50,000 (US$1,540). They claimed the hit was ordered by Nod’s very own brother, Warut Satchakit.

Hogg, referred to in local media as a “British millionaire,” was shot to death, while his wife was bludgeoned to death with a hammer, police said.

The couple was first reported missing when they failed to meet friends in Chiang Mai last Thursday.

At the couple’s residence, authorities found blood stains in a sink near their swimming pool. There were additional blood stains in the garage and Hogg’s white Ford Ranger pick-up truck was missing, reported Khaosod.

The car, revealed by CCTV footage to have been stolen by Warut, was retrieved yesterday near Bangkok.

According to Maj. Gen. Sanpat Prabpudsa, who is leading the investigation, they tracked down the three suspects using their forensic evidence left inside the car, as reported by Daily News.

Maj. Gen. Sanpat said he suspected the crime was linked to Warut’s financial problems and an ongoing dispute with the couple

This, reportedly, is not Warut’s first run-in with the law. He was also arrested for thievery and being involved in another murder prior to this.

The couple’s bodies have now been sent for a post-mortem examination at Phrae Hospital.

Meanwhile, Warut still remains at large. Authorities are still on the hunt for the alleged mastermind behind the gruesome murders.
