On-the-run former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s most personal parts are the topic of a new poem by the country’s poet laureate.

In light of Yingluck dodging her court appearance on Friday, national artist Phaitoon Thanya put pen to paper and penned a short verse using common Thai slang to craft a lewd missive that compares the former PM’s vagina to her ears, reported Khaosod English.

You see, the Thai word for ear (hu) is modern, widely-used slang for vagina and one of the excuses that Yingluck’s lawyer gave for her being a no-show were complications with her Meniere’s disease, an inner-ear sickness with symptoms similar to vertigo.

The unexpected verse made an appearance on Friday on Facebook and was a direct response to the politician’s decision to flee rather than face charges against her. The poet wrote about how Yingluck has a “bad ear,” along with a photo of the former female prime minister’s ear but, in context, his dual meaning was clear to Thais.

The verse has since been removed from Facebook and is the subject of a Change.org petition to have Phaitoon stripped of his national titles and his monthly government stipend revoked.

Just 24 hours after the dirty display was made on Facebook, 100 Thai artists joined together to release a statement confirming their disapproval on the poet’s latest work. The work has been called sexist and it’s been said that such a thing would never have been said about a male politician.

As of this morning, 3,966 people had signed the online petition. People were mostly saying that a national artist should use his influence for good work and to encourage unity, not to start online drama.
