Thai junta leader ‘shocked’ over Sri Lanka terror attacks

Gen. Prayuth Chan-o-cha, prime minister and junta leader, expressed “deep shock and sorrow” over the hundreds of people killed by terrorists Sunday in Sri Lanka.

Expressed his condolences in a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Prayuth said he joined the international community in “strongly condemning this hideous act of violence against innocent people.”

“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families of the victims during this difficult time, and I wish a speedy recovery for those injured,” he said in the statement.

More than 300 people including about 30 foreigners were killed in Hundreds were killed in coordinated blasts that ripped through hotels and churches on Easter Sunday. The Colombo government, which has shut down social media in the riven nation, has fallen under scrutiny for failing to act on warnings about the terrorist group.

Foreign Affairs yesterday weighed in yesterday with its routine notification that no Thai nationals died in the attacks.
