Thai cop that shot Frenchman over bar fight denied bail (VIDEO)

The court today denied bail to a notorious police officer, who has since been fired, after he confessed to shooting dead a French expat in the lobby of the Trendy Building on Wednesday morning over a drunken bar brawl.

Kantapong Huadsri, the former Pol. Snr. Sgt. Maj. at Lumpini police station, will be held at the Criminal Court for 12 days until the the investigation into Ait Kaki Mailk Djamel’s murder is completed, reported Manager.  

Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the bar brawl that led to the fight has been circulating on the web, quickly drawing scrutiny from netizens.

In the clip, Kantapong (in orange) is seen engaged in a fight on the street with Djamel (in black). At one point Kantapong falls to the ground, appearing to have lost the brawl.

Towards the end of the video, he takes out a gun and aims it at Djamel who walks away towards the Trendy building, where he had been staying.

Kantapong can be seen running after him.

Today, Pol. Col. Krisana Pattanacharoen, the Royal Thai Police’s deputy spokesman, apologized to the victim’s family on behalf of Kantapong, reported Sanook.

“On behalf of the Royal Thai police, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the victim’s family and apologize on behalf of Kantapong. This is something we could never foresee,” he said.

“I know this will affect many tourists’ view on the Thai police, but we’d like to say that we have not stood by idly. We will quickly prosecute the responsible party.”

He also added that the second person seen on CCTV with Kantapong has been determined to not be an accomplice as he has not committed any crimes.
