Thai Airways investigates internet idol’s theft of life vest

Thai Airways is investigating the case of a popular internet personality suspected of stealing a life vest and sharing a photo of her loot on Instagram.

Airline officials said today they are taking the matter seriously after attention was drawn to the photograph posted Sunday by internet idol Praew Weerayuthbuncha.

“Regarding earlier news of a passenger taking a life vest from an aircraft, THAI would like to further state that we are currently gathering information and investigating this issue thoroughly to accurately determine what happened,” the airline said on Facebook.

The issue of Praew’s alleged theft was raised and debated after it was posted to a discussion forum Sunday night.

Praew posted a photo of an airplane cabin life vest with the caption, “A souvenir from Thai Airways… #lifevest #tookit #wanttouseit 55555.”

Many condemn the girl for her reckless act, as a missing life vest could be a matter of life and death.

Many netizens wrote comments to Thai Airways encouraging the airline to prosecute the girl. Thai Airways has yet to indicate whether it will notify the authorities to take action.
