Take a chill selfie: Cold weather attracts tourists to the North over long weekend (VIDEO)

As rainy season in Northern Thailand ends and is replaced by the fleeting cold season, the first places to record low temperatures are always the mountains of the North.

For this reason, Thai tourists visited Chiang Mai’s Doi Inthanon National Park is droves this past weekend.

Even this morning, the park was packed and officials reported that the temperature dipped as low as 6 degrees Celsius in the early dawn hours, reported Thai PBS.

Doi Inthanon Park Chief Pornthep Charoensuepsakul posted a video of the fog on the road up to Doi Inthanon this morning, showing Thai tourists in proper winter attire enjoying the kind of cold spell they normally don’t experience in Bangkok, even if it was foggy with low visibility.

Park officials announced that winter is officially arriving in the north and it was the fifth day in a row that temperatures in the park dropped to single digits.

Over the long weekend, 13,416 local and foreign tourists driving 3,200 cars visited the national park in Chiang Mai.
