Suvarnabhumi gives Chinese tourists orange soap for Chinese New Year

Suvarnabhumi Airport officials hope to make a good impression on tourists visiting for Chinese New Year. So, they are giving them orange soap!

The soap was given to people that arrived on Thai Airways flights from Shanghai in hopes of bringing them blessings, luck and, we imagine, cleanliness in the coming year. Oranges are a traditional gift given at Chinese New Year.

Staff at the airport were also decked out in Chinese costume to welcome the tourists, reported Thai PBS.

Increased flights to ferry tourists visiting Thailand over Chinese New Year mean that the airport expects to greet 2.5 million passengers before Feb.5.

That’s a lot of soap!
