‘Stressed Aussie Grandpa’ torches bed and couch after fight with ‘Young Thai Girlfriend’

A video of an older Australian man setting a couch and bed on fire outside his rented Surat Thani home was posted to Facebook and went viral.

Aussie Edward Woodward, 65, was upset yesterday after a fight with his “hot young girlfriend” as the Thai press is calling his partner, 40-year-old Juttamas. Her last name was not published.

Juttamas had left the house and went to stay with her sister after the fight, but returned when she heard about the fire. She said that Woodward must have been “stressed,” leading the Thai press to dub him “stressed Aussie grandpa.”

However, neighbors said that Woodward was not what they’d call “stressed,” they described him as having gone berserk.

When firefighters got to the house, he yelled at them through the gate while holding a large knife. The blazing sofa was visible behind him. He yelled and fought with both the firefighters and the neighbors before giving up and letting the professionals put out the fire.

No one is sure exactly what set the stressed grandpa off yesterday, but it was a national holiday in his country. Jan. 26 was Australia Day.

Juttamas and Woodward lived together for five years. The woman revealed that her two sons had moved in with the couple and there were many fights between them and her Aussie boyfriend. She even said that her “stressed Aussie grandpa” threatened to murder one of the boys, wrote Khaosod.
