Stick figures: Human grief in its simplest form in Thong Lor

Grief is a strong, heartfelt emotion — negative, yet so human. Explore the depth of human grieving next month in Stick Figures, a play about grief and grieving.

It’s being performed in both English and Thai in Thong Lo.

Afraid the play will make you feel miserable? No need to fear. It’s more likely you’ll just get a burning desire to call your mom and tell her how much you love her.

Stick Figures is about an imagined service in which loved ones can say goodbye to someone who has died via a “surrogate,” a live person standing in for a deceased one. The play, by Tennessee-based playwright Josh Ginsburg, toys with the ideas of death, life, loss and love.

You’ll leave thinking about how people cope with loss and how we often don’t get a chance to say a proper goodbye.

The English version of the play will be staged during June, following the Thai version, which is being performed through the end of May. The play is double-cast with both an English and Thai-speaking cast, so feel free to choose between the two languages.
