Stand Up Bangkok: Clash of comedians in comic competition

Get ready to laugh until your eyes water and ribs hurt as Thailand’s first annual comedy competition kicks off this weekend with “Stand Up Bangkok”.

Twelve funny men and women from the UK, US, Australia, China, Japan, Hong Kong, India, and of course Thailand, will fight to get the loudest laughs from the audience.

The panel and audience will whittle down the finalists by judging them on originality, stage presence and audience reaction, with the winning contestant taking home US$500 cash and the title of Thailand’s funniest person.

Actor and presenter Jonathan Atherton will host the first night, with the following night presented by TakeOut Comedy founder Jameson Gong.

Advanced tickets are THB500 for one-night entry and THB900 for two nights, or pay THB700 and THB1,200 at the door. A ticket comes with two drinks.
