SRT suspends southern train services on some flood-affected routes

Flooding in the South has caused the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to temporarily suspend its express train services from Bangkok to Hat Yai, along with altering other train services in the south.

SRT governor Wuthichart Kalyanamit said that the SRT will be suspending express train services from Bangkok to Hat Yai, while southbound trains from Bangkok can only reach Thung Song station due to heavy rains and flooding, which has compromised safety on all routes beyond the station.

The measure was announced after heavy rains and flooding increased in severity, he said, assuring that the SRT will be closely monitoring the situation.

To service passengers beyond Thung Song station, the SRT will arrange to transport passengers by road to their destinations instead, said the SRT governor.

The services affected by the floods includes all express and rapid trains from Bangkok to Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Hat Yai, Yala and Sungai Kolok in Narathiwat, as well as all local services from Thung Song.

Travelers can ask for more information about train services by calling the SRT hotline 1690, with services available around the clock.
