Six men arrested for beating, stabbing disabled man to death in Chokchai 4

Six men aged between 18 to 22 were arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing a disabled bread delivery man in Chokchai 4 neighborhood in Bangkok.

The victim, Somkiat Srichan, 36, was reportedly teased by four of the men which then led to an argument.

The four men then called two friends who arrived with knives. Together they allegedly beat and stabbed Somkiat to death, according to an eyewitness.

One of the men reportedly stabbed Somkiat, who had a walking disability, in the neck, Thairath reported.

Four of the suspects — brothers Arin and Peerapol Yodponganan, 20 and 21 respectively, Monmanat Sangpho, 22, and Mek Polkraisorn, 19 — are sons of police officers.

The other two suspects are Akkaradet Thatsana, 22, and an 18-year-old whose identity has been withheld.

Somkiat died at Paolo Memorial Hospital.

Police told Khaosod English that all of the suspects were drunk when they allegedly attacked the victim outside the bread shop he worked at.

They have been charged with assault resulting in death and possession of knives in public.

Five of the suspects were refused bail and remain in the custody of Ratcha Criminal Court. The other suspect, Peerapol Yodponganan, is in hospital for a cut he received during the brawl.

Somkiat, a divorced father, worked at the bread shop to help support his two sons, aged 9 and 12, who live with their mother in Nakhon Pathom.

He helped his sister Thanchanok run her bread business for three years, according to MThai and Bangkok Post.
