A 14-year-old girl from the Northeastern Thai province of Loei left a digital suicide note on Facebook, just before hanging herself from a beam in her house.

Her friends thought the status was not serious and did not alert adults about it, Sanook reported.

Family members, however, revealed that the girl often mentioned that she was stressed out over personal issues.

Police Officer Chaleawdej Piriyatanakul, deputy inspector at the Na Duang police station in Loei, was notified that a girl,14, had hung herself at a house in Na Duang District. The officer called the local rescue team to the scene.

The girl, whose real name has not been reported for privacy reasons, was barely breathing as she hung from a nylon rope from the beam of the house. Rescue workers untied her, performing CPR, and she was transported to the Na Duang hospital. Later, the girl at the hospital from complications related to hanging.

The Facebook post, published three hours before she died, translates to: “Goodbye World (crying emojis), RIP. Come to my funeral and light incense sticks to let me know [you’re there].”

The family plans to hold religious rites over her body.
