A teacher in Pattaya went to police after her preteen student turned in an essay about how her mother was selling her for sex.

The unnamed student, 12, had been asked to write about her life for a homework assignment and what she turned in revealed that she earns THB500 per session for sex with a local official. She also wrote that if she refused, her mother would beat her.

The girl reportedly ran away from home to live with her friend’s family, who then filed a complaint with the Paveena Foundation for help.

The man who was paying the mother for sex with the sixth grade girl is an official at a local authority.

The girl is now at a children’s home in Bang Lamung, and the police have confirmed that they are investigating the mother and the alleged rapist.

According to Sanook, the alleged rapist works in Ban Bueng, Chonburi. He was summoned to appear for questioning on Wednesday but he did not show up.

Police have applied to Chonburi Provincial Court for a rape arrest warrant for the man and a human trafficking charge against the mother.
