Puppy Love: Bangkok’s first dog park to open in May

Four rai (1.6 acres) of Bangkok is going to the dogs.

In May, the capital’s first dog park will open, one of several planned to serve the growing demand from pet owners looking for a place for their pooch to stretch its legs.

Located in the Watcharaphol area to the north of the capital, the first park is now 30 percent finished, according to Somchai Chatsakulpen of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

The project, which cost the BMA THB47 million, will feature three zones designed for different types of dogs. The park will also staff veterinarians to be on hand to care for the animals.

In the future, the BMA plans to serve other areas of Bangkok with dog parks at SUan Luang Rama 9 Park, Bang Khun Thai Beach and Soi Petchkasem 69, NNT reported.
