Khao Yai’s Conservation Association submitted a proposal on Monday to close Khao Yai National Park from March through May annually to allow natural restoration of the greenery and wildlife.
Predictably, four tour operators oppose the proposition because, well, the park is how they make their money.
The Khao Yai-Dong Phaya Yen Conservation Network Association submitted the proposal to both the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation
Vajaree Pratchayanusorn, president of the tour company Ecotourism Club, said that she disagrees with the proposal because it isn’t the resolution of all parties, reported Thai PBS.
Tour operators from Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok and Saraburi were among those opposed to the possible closure.
