Following the horrifying iPhone robbery-murder that took the life of 26-year-old Wasin Leungjam on Wednesday, the police have caught one of the two assailants.
Police arrested Kittikorn Wigaha, 26, in a village in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi last night. The man has a tattoo on his back that matches the one shown in the footage of the crime. His shoes also have blood stains.
According to police, Kittikorn confessed to the crime. He threatened Wasin with a knife and demanded that he hand over the iPhone 7. He placed the knife at the victim’s neck, but insisted that he did not intend to kill him, adding “he wouldn’t have died if he hadn’t fought back.”
Kittikorn told police that he and his accomplice continued on a robbing spree that night. They attempted and failed to steal a woman’s purse before killing Wasin. After the murder, they robbed two more victims and made off with an iPhone 5 and THB5,000 cash.
Kittikorn said he is a fruit vendor in Nonthaburi and decided to commit the crimes because he did not make enough money from selling fruit to pay his debts.
Police added that he has been in prison eight times since he was 13 and was just released from his latest prison stay on Dec. 13. That sentence was for using Kratom.
His accomplice who drove the motorcycle remains at large, Khaosod reported.
