The man who stabbed an engineer to death last month in the crowded area near MRT Lat Phrao in order to steal his motorcycle has been arrested in the Southern province of Nakhon Sri Thammarat.

The attacker, identified as 19-year-old Waranyu Chumanee, was caught at his aunt’s house in Lan Saka district where he went after stabbing Nares Wangtangmee, 33, near MRT Lat Phrao on May 25, police said in a press conference on Sunday.

According to witnesses, Nares was sitting on his motorcycle between Lat Phrao soi 23 and 25 waiting for his girlfriend when the attacker approached him from behind and stabbed him in the chest once before pushing him off his motorcycle.

Waranyu then tried to escape on the victim’s motorbike, but he was kicked and pushed by a good samaritan who stepped in to help the victim, forcing Waranyu to run away.
