The owners of wholesale mall Platinum are set to spend THB5 billion on an expansion that should open its doors in 2021. With it, they hope to become the largest wholesale market in ASEAN.

With the new expansion, they plan to sell lots more than just clothing, shoes and accessories. They hope to attract vendors that sell all kinds of goods for cheap.

They hope that the expansion will start from the current Platinum Mall to Indra Square across the street and reach as far as the Airport Rail Link at the end of the Ratchaprarop Road.

The expansion will sit on 5-rai of land and offer 35,000-40,000 square meters of shopping.

Singaporeans and Malaysians are the largest group to shop at Platinum but the number of Indonesian customers is also increasing quickly. Shop owners from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam have also begun coming to Bangkok to buy wholesale clothing to resell in their home countries, reported Bangkok Post.

Platinum has shown healthy growth and made sales of THB1.86 billion last year, which is 5 percent more than the previous year.

The company also opened Talad Neon, a hip new night market on Phetchaburi Sois 23-29 in December 2016.
