Ladies and gentlemen, this group of Pattaya expats did not retire to Thailand for THIS.

Saying that a local construction project has rained devastation — relatively speaking — on their homes in Thanyawan Home 2 village, the group went to the local press today after saying they got no justice from local officials or the condo company behind the project.

Bjorn Ingolf Soreng, a 57-year-old Norwegian, alleged that Arcadia Beach Resort, which is building four condominiums near his home, had failed to allocate a proper amount of distance, in order to ensure that his decade-old house would not be damaged by the project.

Instead, Soreng told Sanook, cracks in his walls have left him worried the house’s structural integrity might be impacted, something that could potentially jeopardize residents’ safety.

Having no luck with local authorities, Soreng complained to the condo company, something that only resulted in cosmetic solutions like painting over the cracks in the walls and replacing floor tiles.

Waree Seuyusai, a Thai woman married to another expat in the village, seconded Serong’s claim of damaged floors and walls.

The 50-year-old homeowner further added that the dust and noise pollution from the construction disturbed the neighborhood’s peacefulness — which was a major selling point for she and her foreign husband 12 years ago when they purchased their property for about THB4 million baht (US$120,000).

Waree, who now rents the house out for income, alleged that she’s losing customers because the construction has caused so much noise that no one will rent the house.
