A record-breaking, gold medal-winning disabled athlete who inspired others at the Para Games last year has been arrested for selling yaba to minors.
Wuttipol Singthong, 30, was caught red-handed after undercover police bought 14 speed tablets from him in the capital’s Bangkok Yai district on Tuesday. Wuttiphol reportedly confessed to having supplied drugs to teenagers twice before, saying he desperately needed money to feed the eight people in his family.
It was only last year when he won two gold medals for Thailand and set new records in javelin and shot put at the ASEAN Para Games held January, 2014, in Myanmar.
After that high, Wuttipol describes a rapid descent. He said he was discarded following the games, without any care or salary provided by the games’ committee, Sanook reported.
