Officials weight obscenity charges for body-paint pretties

The Ministry of Culture is threatening to prosecute someone for promotional models who exposed their every contour with great immodesty in cheetah-themed body paint Tuesday at the Bangkok Motor Show.

The Royal Thai Police have been instructed to investigate the painted-up pretties representing German auto brand Carlsson after receiving complaints from citizens that the preponderance of paint-covered boobs and butt was extremely inappropriate.

“It’s too suggestive!” Governer Wira Rojpodjanarat exclaimed. “Dressing like this may be normal abroad, but it is inappropriate in Thai culture.”

The news comes a day after similar complaints were aired over another model going bare-assed at a Bangkok mall’s fashion show on Tuesday.

While the ministry understands the brands attract customers with beautiful pretties, Wira added the officials will reach out to all organizers of the annual automotive show ensure pretties are not showing too much skin.

The ministry has always received complaints regarding motor show pretties, Wira said, so he feels action must be taken.

The people deemed responsible could face charges of obscenity which is punishable by up to a THB5,000 fine, Matichon reported.
