Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports Pongpanu Swetarun led a delegation including Tourism Police Chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Apichai Thia-amat to review the street food pilot project on Yaowarat Road. The program seeks to preserve and enhance the area’s distinctive street food culture while also improving hygiene and other factors that inspire tourist confidence. The permanent secretary noted that all vendors clearly displayed their prices and information for reporting complaints, as is urged in the project, reported Thai News Bureau.
Head of Metropolitan Police 6 Pol. Maj. Gen. Songpol Wattanachai revealed that Yaowarat has been made into a safety zone with over 200 CCTV cameras surveying the entire area. Watch over the road also includes mounted cameras and police riding Segways to allow them to cover more ground.
