Nadia the giant croc died from excessive electric shock

Remember the giant croc that went missing in the southern flood last month? She was found dead yesterday.

Jeom Kamlangkuea, a staff member at Thung Tha Lad Zoo in Nakhon Si Thammarat, said that when Nadia was found in another part of the zoo, the staff used an electric shocking device to stun her and tie her up, then moved her back to her cage. As Nadia is gigantic, five meters in length, the staff may have shocked her too much and injured her internal organs as a result.

Nadia seemingly lost her appetite and refused to eat after the capture. Her cause of death is believed to be internal injuries from excessive electric shock.

Jeom added that he disagreed with shocking the animals, as the method can injure their organs, Kapook reported.

Unlike Harambe, the gorilla living in an American zoo whose tragic death sparked controversy over whether shooting him to save a boy’s life was the only or best choice under the circumstance, Nadia’s death is being criticized too, with some saying that the zoo workers lack the appropriate knowledge and skills to handle animals
