Muay Thai fighters to clash on deck of aircraft carrier

This is possibly the coolest place to stage some bloodsport since Sagat’s Ayutthaya temple level in Street Fighter.

Next Sunday Muay Thai fighters will have at each other on the HTMS Chakri Naruebet, flagship of the Royal Thai Navy and its only carrier-class vessel.

“Thai Fight,” presented by the Thai Boxing World Tournament Competition, starts at 3pm on the ship at Chuk Samet port in Sattahip, Chonburi province.

Fighters include Yodsanklai Fairtex, Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee and the “French hot brothers” Antoine Pinto and Leo Pinto.

According to the promoters, the event is free and tickets will be available at the door – or the gangway, we suppose. The Chakri Naruebet is usually off limits to foreigners, but on Sunday non-Thais will be welcome onboard.
