A Pattaya moto-taxi driver who was filmed giving a German man a full kick to the face said he was simply helping police catch the tourist because he was trying to escape a ticket yesterday.
The video opens with the unidentified tourist attempting to drag his motorbike away from the crowd before a man wearing an orange moto-taxi vest simply steps into frame and punts him directly in the face.
Unsurprisingly, the video has received more than a million views overnight.
The moto-taxi driver, named Soonthorn Sangkham, 48, claimed that the cops had locked the German man’s motorcycle because he didn’t have a driver’s license, but then the tourist got “aggressive” with officials — officials we’ll point out cannot be seen in the video — and would not stop dragging his bike away, so he stepped in to “help” the cops.
Our vigilante hero claims he only lost his temper when the tourist swore at him in English (no, that’s not in the video either).
Pol. Capt. Chanikarn Puenchit confirmed the incident — not that we needed the face-punting confirmed — saying that the foreigner had gone about 100 meters before the moto-taxi driver stopped him, One 31 reported.
In the end, police made a record of the attack at the police station, but no further action will be taken as the tourist didn’t want to press charges. He simply paid the traffic fine and said he wanted to go back to Germany — ASAP.

What a brave guy kicking someone in the face while they’re bent down and both hands are occupied. And so virtuous, because we know mototaxi drivers never break the law.
