We’re pretty savvy shoppers here in Bangkok. Just think about how much time we spend in malls. (Spoiler alert, it’s a long time.) So it’s no wonder that Bangkok is the launch pad for a new app that blends the worlds of shopping, gaming and entertainment.
LUKKY, developed right here in Bangkok, offers a new, gloriously addictive shopping experience. The app puts the players in charge of the prizes. Another bonus? No mall time necessary!
We’re more than ready to up our shopping game so we gave it a little spin. But did we get lucky? Read on and find out.
We started by downloading LUKKY for free from iTunes or Google Play. Easy enough! A quick login, and we’re off.
We began by scrolling through the LUKKY catalogue, hunting for things we need, things we want and things that just look cool AF. A Chihuahua-sized zebra print teepee? Click! Colorful scarf from amazing Bangkok fashion designer Monlada? We heart that!
It’s a bit of a random assortment of lifestyle accessories, electronic devices, and some funky novelty pillows, but somehow, that just made browsing even more entertaining. LUKKY is a smorgasbord of great stuff, most of which are listed by other merchants, both eCommerce and traditional brick and mortar.
There are even experiential items like aromatherapy massages, a resort romantic getaway, as well as fitness and yoga packages. We hear dining and restaurant packages are also on the way.
In addition to fashion accessories from top Thai brands, adorable pet accessories for your fur babies and lots of gadgets like iPhones, FitBits, JBL earphones, wireless chargers and high tech selfie sticks, there’s LUKKY branded merchandise like leather bracelets, caps and necklaces. Guess it’s safe to say that you won’t be looking anywhere else.
We added our favorites to our Wish List. And here’s why: each day you get to play for 18 of your own Wish List items. That means you can spin the LUKKY globe as many times as you want. (Weeeee!) Each spin means more points (more on that later) and each time the globe stops spinning an image of 18 Wish List items appears.
This is where our shopping skills came into play.
With only 3 seconds to tap the item, we had to move fast – quite a challenge with a cute cartoon puppy distracting us! Each tap got us a token. The goal is to collect three tokens for items in our Wish List in order to receive a “Prize Winning Question” about that item. Be warned though, the question can come at any time and you have just 5 minutes to answer. (If that’s not a reason to turn on those notifications, we don’t know what is!)
But LUKKY is not a gambling application or a lucky draw that leaves things up to chance. LUKKY combines the elements that make risk-free gaming so fun and addictive with an exciting online shopping experience.
Anyone can win and no purchase is necessary. It’s about honing your skills and knowledge of the product, and being fastest to tap, of course. Here’s a little trick: keep spinning and keep tapping to make sure you have three tokens for every item you want.
After spinning the globe a few dozen times (it was seriously addictive) we looked up from our phone to realize we had several items with 3 tokens collected. Sweet! Now, we’re just waiting for that “Prize Winning Question” and you’ll have to download the app to see for yourself just how lucky you can get.
On top of their unique shopping experience, LUKKY also produces its own original fun and edgy entertainment program called Get LUKKY! On the show, which live-streams on the app and Facebook every Saturday from 12pm-1pm, hosts Mike, Nat, June Mint, PingPong and Kaimook give away the hottest prizes of the week. Expect guest appearances by celebrities and up-and-coming stars too.
