Maybe it’s the high volume of tourists or maybe it’s that Thai obsession with selfie-image, but Bangkok has beat out New York, Las Vegas and Orlando as the most Instagrammed place in the world in 2013.
And not the serene splendor of Wat Pho, the storied majesty of the Grand Royal Palace or backpacker ghetto of Khao Sarn, but none other than a shopping mall – Siam Paragon – tops the Top Locations on Instagram 2013 list moving up from second place in 2012. Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport dropped from the most-Instagrammed spot in the world in 2012 to the No. 9 this year.
Poor French. The Eiffel Tower fell off the list this year, while Walt Disney World, New York’s High Line and Central parks and the Bellagio Fountains of Las Vegas were new entries.
