The co-owner of the “@Thonglor” pub and restaurant in Krabi was shot dead in a club after he reportedly refused to pay for a broken drinking glass.

Police said Suriya Chansukon, 48, was shot dead inside the Number One dance club in Krabi province in the early morning of Tuesday by his acquaintance Sompop Kongphakdee, 31.

Sompop is said to have broken a glass and asked Suriya to pay the fee for him. When the victim refused, Sompop shot him in the head, police said.

After the shooting, Sompop rushed to his car, drove away and returned to the club in an attempt to pretend he hadn’t been at the scene.

However police searched him and arrested him after they found the gun he had used as a murder weapon.

Sompop confessed to police that a stranger had bumped into his table and broke his glass.

He then went to Suriya asking him to help him with the bill as the victim knew the venue’s owner.

However after Suriya refused and rebuked him, Sompop shot him dead, police said.

Sompop was charged with murder and carrying a weapon in a public place.

Suriya leaves behind his wife, former national basketball player Naruemon Wandee, Daily News reported.
