Iranian woman caught shoplifting from Phuket supermarket

Chalong Police were called Sunday to arrest a tourist who had been caught walking out of Tesco Lotus department store without paying for around THB4,600 of cosmetic creams.

Capt. Pansak Chaithong, of Chalong Police, arrested Sabzvari Sahel, 25, who had shoplifted while at the Tesco with her boyfriend at just after 7:30pm.

Sahel walked out of the supermarket without paying for one Olay brand wrinkle cream priced at THB879, one L’Oreal wrinkle cream priced at THB639, two L’Oreal eye wrinkle creams priced at THB799 each (together THBB1,598), one L’Oreal face cream priced at THB719, and another L’Oreal face cream priced at THB759.
All of the stolen goods totalled THB4,594.

“Sahel, at the supermarket with her boyfriend, picked up the goods and placed them into a plastic bag before carrying them through an unattended cashier counter without paying,” said Capt. Pansak.

“She had passed through the payment point and, after about 20 meters, a security guard checked her for a bill. When the guard discovered she did not have a bill, he quickly informed staff.”

Police officers were then called in to bring the woman to Chalong Police Station where they charged her with theft at nighttime, confirmed Capt. Pansak.
