Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha showed up to work this morning sporting an arm sling but was tight-lipped about how he injured his hand.

The junta leader-turned-prime minister, who turns 69 later this month, appeared at the Government House wearing the sling on his right arm after undergoing treatment for an unspecified injury during the weekend.

“I’m a lot better, but I have to work. There’s a lot of work to do. Thank you,” Prayuth told reporters this morning. He waved with his left arm and raised a two-fingered V sign.

Prayuth was reportedly prescribed anti-inflammation medication on Saturday for his swollen right hand. Though the nature of his injury was not disclosed, Thamrongroj Temudom, director of the hospital where he was treated, denied that Prayuth was treated for gout or a similar condition.

Prayuth will travel outside Bangkok again on Saturday to campaign for his new party, Ruam Thai Srang Chart, aka the United Thai Nation Party, with whom he will seek another term as premier following elections now set for May.
