Illegal drugs now imported from China in convenient shoe form

We’ve seen yaba, or methamphetamine, smuggled inside soup, tampons and reproductive organs.

So maybe we’re jaded and cynical when we say: Shoes? Not so creative.

Officers at Don Muang Airport yesterday arrested a 30-year-old Thai woman after they said she tried to enter the country with 4.24 kilograms of speed worth THB15 million.

Moncharika Latontap was detained after arriving from Shenzhen City, China. A search discovered the drugs inside of nine pairs of shoes, including those also occupied by her feet, police said. Next time you feel like scrambling your brains, remember kids, you might be smoking someone’s foot funk.

Moncharika protested her innocence and said she was carrying the shoes at the behest of someone else. Never heard that one before, either.

Police have charged her with possession with intent to sell, The Nation reported.
