Highway linking Bangkok to South completely impassable

While floodwaters are receding in some places in the South today, it continues to rain and now the major highway that links Bangkok to the Southern provinces has been deemed impassable.

In Prachuap Khiri Khan, an upper Southern province, flash flooding has caused part of the train line to be completely submerged and the approach slab to Ban Wang Yao Bridge on Phetkasem Highway in Bang Saphan District to be destroyed.

Yesterday, vehicles were unable to navigate through submerged sections of the road, which were also experiencing strong currents. The traffic jams incurred by this were many, many kilometers long, reported Thai PBS.

Today, the highway remained impassable and floodwaters were fortified by three reservoirs in Bang Saphan District overflowing.
