A gynecologist in northern Nakhon Sawan province was charged with rape yesterday after his alleged victim claimed he had assaulted her over the course of two appointments in September.

The 29-year-old patient, who gave her statement to police yesterday, said that on Sept. 5, she went to a clinic in her city after suffering from severe abdominal pain. She was given a checkup by 53-year-old physician Jakkapong, who family name has not been released.

The patient, a government worker, claimed that during the procedure, Jakkapong rubbed his genitals on her vagina and pressed her abdomen with his hand in order to “teach her how to have intercourse without causing pain to her abdomen.” Then he allegedly told her to imagine that she was having intercourse before trying to kiss her, the victim claimed.

The 29 year old pushed him away and he stopped. She changed into her normal clothes and left the clinic, Khaosod reported.

However, as her condition did not improve, she visited the same clinic on Sept. 21. Her second encounter with Jakkapong resulted in her allegedly being raped for 15-20 minutes, according to Nation TV.

She filed a police report on Oct. 6 before seeking help from lawyers.

The doctor, who met with the police yesterday, has denied all charges and will give his statement in court.

Dr. Nattawut Prasertsiripong, the secretary to the Medical Council of Thailand, said the organization is launching its own investigation as well.
