Thai psychiatrist Nuttorn Pityaratstian has luck on his side. He and his kids left the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, UK, on Monday evening shortly before a bomb went off, killing 22 and injuring dozens more.

Nuttorn left the pop concert during the last song to catch a train back to Liverpool, where he currently lives with his family. The staff member at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine Department of Psychiatry is undergoing further training in the UK and decided to take his kids to the ill-fated show, reported The Nation.

On his Facebook page, Nuttorn described what happened as he left and saw the UK’s worst terrorist attack in more than a decade: “While Ariana was singing her last song, we left early to catch a train back to Liverpool. As we were climbing down the stairs, we heard a loud bang, and someone shouted ‘Bomb! Run!’ People were screaming,” he wrote.

“I held my kids’ hands and ran out of the concert hall. No one knew what had happened,” he added.

He said there was confusion and no one knew for sure what was going on. He wondered if it had just been some kind of accident as he saw panicked and crying people stream out of Manchester Arena.

He quickly got his kids to the train as police and ambulances began reaching the venue. He began reading about the emerging details of the attack on the way home.
