Sanit Promwong, the Department of Land Transport’s director-general, said the organization does not reject new technology to call taxis, but it must be conducted within the law.

Sanit said officials also paid a visit to the motorcycle taxis in the video and gave them a disciplinary warning for their inappropriate behaviour.

The video, which has now surpassed a million views, has drawn criticisms from social media users who say the drivers’ poor manners are the reason many of them use Grab and Uber to get taxis.
