The cleaners that tidy the trains at Hua Lamphong station unlocked a bathroom on a train that had recently arrived from Lampang and found a woman’s dead body inside. She was hanged from a crude noose fastened to a hook on the back of the door.
The police were called and came to investigate.
The woman was dressed in baggy backpacker garb and appeared to be about 25 years old, although she had no identification on her. She had a cosmetics bag beside her and fresh needle marks on her left arm while her right wrist was injured, Thairath reported.
She has a small amount of American money in her pocket.
The train left Lampang on Wednesday evening and arrived in Bangkok early Thursday morning. The cleaners found the woman’s body in the early afternoon.
An autopsy will be performed, and officers are searching for reports of missing tourists as well as reviewing CCTV footage. They also hope to possibly identify her by her ticket purchase.
The police think it was a suicide.
