Flight Delay: Find out which airlines were on-time and which were so late in 2016

Traveling can quickly go from a dream to a nightmare when you are faced with the wrong airline. Bad food and cold cabins are just the beginning of the issues you can face when flying the friendly — or not so friendly — skies.

Consider, for example, delayed flights. That’s what FlightStats considered when they compiled their “On-time Performance Service Awards” list of the best and worst airlines of 2016. The results, based solely on which flights were delayed and which were on-time, might surprise you.

The 10 most delayed international airlines in 2016 (percentage of flights delayed)

1. El Al (56%)

2. Icelandair (41.05%)

3. Air India (38.71%)

4. Philippine Airlines (38.33%)

5. Asiana Airlines (37.46%)

6. China Eastern Airlines (35.8%)

7. Hong Kong Airlines (33.42%)

8. Air China (32.73%)

9. Korean Air (31.74%)

10. Hainan Airlines (30.3%)

1. KLM (11.47%)

2. Iberia (11.82%)

3. Japan Airlines (12.2%)

4. Qatar Airways (13.66%)

5. Austrian (14.26%)

6. All Nippon Airways (14.46%)

7. Singapore Airlines (14.55%)

8. Delta Air Lines (14.83%)

9. TAM Linhas Aéreas (14.93%)

10. Qantas (15.7%)

One statistic that really stood out to us, however, appeared on the on-time list for the global list of low-cost carriers. Nok Air was eighth on that list with 79.87% of their flights arriving on-time.
