Police today will investigate what led to a five-story building and warehouse packed with engine oil to go up in a fire that took firefighters hours to bring under control yesterday.

The fire at the headquarters of Prapakorn Oil, near a PTT petrol station in west metro Bangkok, took over four hours to put out late Wednesday afternoon, causing extensive damage to the site.

Local police said no one was injured or killed in the incident. They said that the fire could have resulted from a short circuit in combination with high temperatures but will investigate the cause today.

Prapakorn Oil has been an engine oil distributor company for 30 years, and its nearby warehouse was filled with engine oil cans. Initial reports said leaking oil had been polluting local water.
